I am a lifelong resident of Boone County. Other than the few years I was attending Purdue University, I have never lived more than 5 miles from the Boone County Courthouse. I grew up on a small farm west of Lebanon near Hazelrigg, IN. The farm belonged to my mother’s grandparents prior to that and my parents bought it in the early 60’s.
After graduation from Western Boone HS, I attended Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. GO Boilers!
Right after college, I worked for the Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative as a Feed and Animal Equipment Specialist. In 1989, I started working as a Real Estate Appraiser. In the mid-90s, I was one of the first appraisers to pass the Indiana Licensing Test and have since been practicing as a Indiana Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
My wife, Anita, is also a graduate of Western Boone and after we were married, while raising our children, she returned to school to earn her Masters Degree in Accounting. Together, we manage our family business in Real Estate Appraising – Wolfe Appraisals. We also maintain a real estate investment business where we have focused on taking some of the worst houses in Lebanon neighborhoods and remodeling them for resale.
OUR FAMILY: Together, Anita and I have four great children and now five wonderful grandchildren. We really enjoy spending time with the grandkids!
I try the best I can to put God at the center of my life and am thankful every day for the blessings I have received. I am a lifelong member of one of Boone County’s oldest churches, Pleasant View Church in Lebanon, where I have served on many committees, including two times as a Trustee.
I have been a member of several Boone County organizations but am most proud of the many years I spent as a member of the Love In the Name of Christ Board of Directors. I also greatly enjoyed coaching several teams for my children over the years including spending eight years coaching my daughters’ various softball teams.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Between our businesses and my County Commissioner commitments, I do not have a tremendous amount of time for hobbies – unless you count the endless hours we love to spend with our grandchildren. Other than family time, Anita and I like to visit swap meets and car shows. We also have an older Harley Davidson Fatboy that we enjoy hopping on and taking for an easy ride in the countryside.
We love music and many times you’ll find us sitting on our front porch and singing while I play my old Seagull guitar. I am a huge fan of singer/songwriters and have spent some time writing songs myself, some of which we play at church when we participate in the music ministry portions of our Sunday services.
